Lewis E. Hudnell, III
Lewis E. Hudnell, III is Special Counsel at PCT focusing on complex, high stakes patent disputes to devise and implement innovative strategies for achieving favorable results. Mr. Hudnell has represented major corporations in the electronics, semiconductor, networking, computer software, electronic commerce, and financial services industries. He works closely with clients to understand their business and their needs in order to help them attain their objectives. Mr. Hudnell also counsels clients on strategically protecting their innovations and realizing optimal value from their intellectual assets.
Prior to PCT, Mr. Hudnell was a principal in the New York office of Fish & Richardson, and a senior associate in the San Francisco Office of Orrick, Herington & Sutcliffe.
In addition to litigation, Mr. Hudnell has patent transactional and prosecution experience which includes conducting patent due diligence and advising clients on intellectual property issues in business transactions and in the intellectual property marketplace. He also has experience in drafting and negotiating patent license agreements, patent assignment agreements, software license agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and online warranty and indemnification agreements.
Mr. Hudnell’s prosecution experience includes prosecuting domestic and international patent applications for inventions relating to computer software, business methods, electronic commerce, web sites, Internet browsers, smart cards, cryptography and public key infrastructure, financial products, and financial analysis software.
Mr. Hudnell is a frequent speaker and author in the areas of patent litigation and the state of the IP marketplace.
